Gary Sinise Foundation Home

Hayes Construction was honored to take part in the Gary Sinise Foundation R.I.S.E. (Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment) Program where we had the opportunity to build a fully adapted custom home for local retired Green Beret Caleb Brewer and his family. This home strives to accomodate the challanges Caleb faces on a daily basis through the use of accessible bathrooms, wide hallways, pocketing doors, flush transitions, and smart technology to name just a few. Allthough these features are helpful for Caleb, his most prized room has to be his gym. This gym is not only where Caleb has been able to make major personal strides in his own mobility but he has been able to extend his mission to help others that find themselves in a similar situation. A true honor! And we can’t imagine a more deserving person for this home.

PIMA COUNTY CERTIFIED GREEN CUSTOM HOME

With the help of Architect Chauncey Meyer this custom home emphasized the old world charm of the existing barn house with an ultra modern addition. This home incorporated many unique ideas to create a comfortable and environmentally responsible space. The design of the butterfly style roof allows for all of the rain water to be collected in Six cisterns each with a capacity of over 1,000 gallons. The exposed duct work also gave big returns because the air is being moved through conditioned air space resulting in less heat gain/loss. The most unique green feature in this house though is its tromb wall. The dormer above was designed to let light and heat in during the winter months (and not the summer months) to heat a solid block wall that then radiates the heat all night long. It was a pleasure working on this house not only because of its green qualities but also because of our clients.

LIVING OFF THE GRID

A conventional home is built using the infrastructure supplied by the city or town like water, power, gas and sewer. What happens though when none of that stuff is present at your lot…

This home was built using the latest building material and technology. It measures approximately 1,400 square feet with a wrap around porch and over-sized two car garage. The home was built using Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) to improve energy efficiency. The home is powered by a 4KW solar photo voltaic array and 8KW of battery storage. On days with peak demand it is able to automatically start the generator and pick up any additional load. The water comes from a private solar well which supplies a 4,000 gallon holding tank. The waste is returned to the environment through a conventional septic system and chambered leach field. This home has all of the creature comforts as well.

DIFFICULT BUILD SITE

This custom home situated at the top of a steep hill in a gated Oro Valley neighborhood took some engineering and ingenuity to create. As you can see from the photos many of the rooms were designed to take advantage of the breathtaking views.

GREEN… BECAUSE IT JUST MAKES CENTS!

The owners of this house on the east side of Tucson wanted to create a home that fit their large family better. They also wanted something that would be energy efficient. Using the design of architect Robert Laning we were able to turn the owners dream into a reality. We used ICF construction along with efficient windows, heating and cooling, and insulation to create a strong and lasting home. It sits at the crest of the hill with an east west orientation to take advantage of views and the best solar angle.

REPEAT CUSTOMERS This was the second home we built for these customers. Their first was in the Oro Valley area and this one is in a gated community of Vail just south east of Tucson. This home was designed with the owners in mind even including the round window in the kitchen (a signature item for the couple). This home also included an indoor/outdoor caged patio for the family cat to relax in while staying safe from the desert predators.

LEED CERTIFIED HOME This unique Leader in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified custom home was only the second of its kind in the Tucson area. Hayes Construction worked hand in hand with the owners of the property, the architect and other subcontractors to create this beautiful and efficient home. This house has a 1,500 gallon cistern, a no volatile organic compound (VOC) paint, and energy efficient appliances so that it is in compliance with LEED certification. It also has many beautiful architectural elements that make this house stand out in a crowd.

REMODEL AND ADDITION

This charming home located on a golf course in a 35 year old neighborhood needed a total face-lift and new golf cart garage. The owners of the property contacted Hayes Construction to renovate the entire house and give it a more modern and open feel. The transformation that this house undertook is remarkable. Updated appliances, an open floor plan and the use of natural light are just a few of the design elements that make this house unique.

PERSONAL TOUCH This stunning home is built in Oro Valley just north of Tucson. It takes advantage of the magnificent views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Its split level design allows for many unique aspects such as a window looking underwater into the pool and a kitchen that sits three feet above the living room allowing for an enjoyable entertaining area.
